this might be a good time to test rebooting/ running the debianization script. very cool that you got it working, can't want to see the database synched again.... --Phalseid 05:50, 11 Oct 2006 (NZST)

Nope unfortunately the Debianisation is too difficult in the situation that godaddy provide, there's no rescue system to boot in to which means it would be extremely difficult to replace the current system (they do offer the ability to nuke it back to original state though, so a linux guru could probably work out how to debianise it, but none of us have the skills and it would be a lot of time). I don't know which hosting providers are most reliable etc, but VPS Land from our Hosting and domain names list offers Debian. if there's any trouble changing, don't worry too much, we can stick with the redhat. --Nad 21:12, 11 Oct 2006 (NZST)

Note: this system is not an out-of-the-box install set up by the hosting provider, see Redhat Post Install for what's been installed and where --Nad 07:56, 6 Sep 2006 (NZST)
thanks. i am getting an SSL certificate from godaddy ("turbo", domain name only), will keep you all up to date on that and may need help installing (?) --Phalseid 14:23, 5 Sep 2006 (NZST)
You can just use a self-signed cert if its just for staff and you don't care about the "untrusted" message --Nad 08:34, 6 Sep 2006 (NZST)

Red Hat Fedora Core 2

Host Name: wikiexpert User ID: wikiexpert Server IP Address:

Operating System: Red Hat Fedora Core 2 RAM: 256 MB Guaranteed (1 GB Bursted) Total Disk Space: 10 GB Bandwidth Allotment: 500 GB Control Panel Type: None

When I check /proc/meminfo it shows us as having 6GB RAM! and /proc/cpuinfo gives we have quad 3GHz xeon...?
dunno....we paid for the economy package. https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/virtual.asp?se=%2B&ci=466&display=virtual
if it makes you feel any better I could move all my hosting over here...--Phalseid 03:59, 26 Nov 2006 (NZDT)
We're only using a fraction of the processing and bandwidth and don't have time for looking after clients ourselves so go for it if you like - the only thing is though that 10G isn't much disk space. (Maybe the Debianisation confused there system into giving us the max cpu/ram?) --Nad 08:50, 26 Nov 2006 (NZDT)
