Talk:Installing XmlWiki

Each article works just like normal unless it has an associated xml-properties article to tell XmlWiki to treat it differently. (also articles by default will be syntax-hilighted if they're named *.php, *.xml etc).

Also, you can completely turn off the XmlWiki aspect (from /wiki/xmlwiki/index.php) and then the whole wiki including all Xml-properties-articles can be viewed and edited normally, but this means that anyone can access any articles since the permissions are an XmlWiki aspect.

You are welcome to experiment with it on this one, it's quite a mess anyway - but you can't execute any php articles you create, you'll have to install your own one for that.

If you don't already have a bot to do your php-manual data entry, have a look at peer.pl that's a MediaWiki-bot for doing batch article synronisation and could be adapted to parse the php-manual.

one thing i cant clearly recognize here, will existing, non-XmlWiki, articles still work as before?
