Talk:Templates

From Organic Design wiki

Templates have been one of the most frequently requested and referred to features of the various applications of the Nodal model. Here I've started a list of classes and instances of templates.

Let us now collaborate on templates to help organise content, discussions can happen on the talk page of the various templates, additional templates which are required can be added to the list.--Milan 20:20, 20 April 2007 (NZST)

What do I need to know to create and use templates? This could be the content of a Help:Mediawiki templates article. The article features links to help articles, addresses FAQ's, shows examples and defines standards for template development. Maybe this could just be in the category article?

  • Distinguishing between types of templates: Wiki template; Template article; Mediawiki template - this is about Mediawiki templates
    • Link to articles for working on other kinds of templates
  • Begin with link to w:Help:Templates
    • Explain additional considerations to take into account for creating templates on OD
    • Link to some local examples of templates
  • Explain variables, they are often used in templates w:Help:Variables
  • Explain how templates tie into DPL
    • Discuss goals regarding template and DPL tie-in for OD
Will expand soon--Milan 14

what is the difference between roles, "templates", training, procedure, and best practice?! --Phalseid 17:23, 12 Dec 2006 (NZDT)

it seems there would be some nodal correlation, right? --Phalseid 17:35, 12 Dec 2006 (NZDT)
  • A template is another word for class
  • Roles are human classes (and people are human instances)
  • Procedures are performed by the roles
  • Best practice are procedures evolved/refined through use and feedback
  • Training is a subset of a role's procedures similar to initialisation-processes for a class
In the nodal model procedures/processes are nodally reducable structures --Nad 08:40, 13 Dec 2006 (NZDT)
