Decentralised finance (DeFi) is a paradigm that started gaining traction after the popularisation of decentralised smart contract networks which were pioneered by Ethereum. These systems allow more complex organisational systems to be implemented such as pegged assets (stable coins), loans, liquidity, prediction markets, derivatives and cross-chain exchanges, all in a completely decentralised and way without relying on any trusted third parties. Some of these mechanism are of particular interest to us here at Organic Design and come in the form of open protocols.
