Low noise RF switching is needed to allow multiple audio and video inputs switched by software. I have a TV with one video input. I already have a DVD player, so the use of a media center in this situation will not be very friendly because of the need to switch inputs manually.
An RF switch with multiple audio and video inputs and a single audio/video output would allow the pc software to control which outputs are sent to the TV. In this way the remote control can be used to select from a number of existing video sources or the computer or TV. The switch would also need a default switched state. In this case where the pc was asleep the hardware could still select a default switch path to allow the use of the DVD player when the software was not able to respond.
