The genesis block was created ten years ago today at 18:15!
The first bitcoin transaction ever is the genesis block reward which contains the famous message "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks" which suggests that Satoshi created bitcoin with the purpose of resolving the problems of the current financial mechanism and fiat currency in general.
