- 1981 (oct 06), Egyptian president Anwar Al Sadat was assasinated by Khalid Islambouli of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad for being the first Arab leader to officially visit Israel (for which he and Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin received the nobel piece prize in 1978 for their efforts to end the Arab-Israeli conflict).
