I'm thinking of using this term to cover the "atomic" organisations on which the low level organisations like communications and identity are composed. The conceptual aspect of the cell is generic organisation, the word "cell" is used to refer to particular instances of these atomic organisations.

The word is used because the generic organisation is similar in many ways to a biological cell, being a fundamental component, but handling all the same necessities that all organisations need to cover like energy-economy, resource allocation, scheduling, production, input and output etc.
