Can you check that my alterations are not going to break code please, diff --Sven 10:00, 8 Jun 2006 (NZST)

Any changes to peer code will sync down to FS and across to all peers automatically every morning, so if any codes going to break, make sure its sorted before the sync happens! use fileSync, then restart in the peer interface to ensure it works --Nad 10:26, 8 Jun 2006 (NZST)
Yes the File Test operators should be platform independent, http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/docs/ActivePerl/5.8/lib/Pod/perlfunc.html.
Can you please check on a file in your temp directory
perl -e 'print -s "/tmp/foo", "\n"' # Unix
perl -e "print -s '/tmp/foo', '\n'" # Windows
# = bytesize
0 = file with no content
undef = file doesn't exist
I had better get a peer going to test manual overrides before altering anything.--Sven 11:06, 8 Jun 2006 (NZST)
ok, worked for me on a windows platform --Sven 11:16, 8 Jun 2006 (NZST)

Yo, check this out David Firth's myspace, the songs pretty good. --Sven 15:09, 5 Jun 2006 (NZST)

Nad- could you give jlangdale dev access to this or wikiexpert? me too? thanks. Phalseid 05:56, 30 May 2006 (NZST)

Ok, you're both dev on this wiki (which is on the wikiexpert server). --Nad 09:26, 31 May 2006 (NZST)

Greetings. I just came across this while researching social networking. It talks about what The Project is trying to create: A Global Brain! Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_brain Also, the FAQ: http://pespmc1.vub.ac.be/GBRAIFAQ.html --Milan 19:33, 23 May 2006 (NZST)

Yip that's the project all right - they don't seem to have much of a workable foundation in place yet but --Nad 21:42, 23 May 2006 (NZST)
That FAQ has a lot of good material that could be borgafied - do they actually have anything real, or is it more "connecting existing things" stylez...? --Nad 21:46, 23 May 2006 (NZST)
They don't have anything in the way of code, but it's like they created the spec and the FAQ for the project - pretty cool huh?--Milan 21:58, 23 May 2006 (NZST)
I see where they're coming from now, I read their Structuring Knowledge in a Network of Concepts, which seems like a fairly old-school approach even less flexable than topic-maps, and like topic maps, no actual encapsulation of time/change/process etc - bugger, I'll have to get back to work then! --Nad 22:16, 23 May 2006 (NZST)
I bet they would be "stoked as" to hear about what you are doing - they seem pretty stuck, their info hasn't been updated for a while either.

Hey Aran, Everythings going pretty cool with the website except the slideshow takes ages to load and the photos only last a second, Im not sure about messing with your programming on this, do you reckon I can sort it or do I need to leave it up to you? Jewel 14:37, 8 May 2006 (NZST)

Hmmmm you're right Sam's server seems to be down - its the first time that's happened since I set it up so it'll have to wait until he's back before we can find out what happened....? --Nad 19:34, 13 May 2006 (NZST)

Hey thanks for the help, It did take awhile to begin but the pics fade out awesome, Ah I forgot how to start on the first page of my wiki Im trying to set up a new web page for shans business but cant remember how to get to my first blank page and then bookmark it? I know I should hav been a blonde. Jewel 20:51, 17 May 2006 (NZST)

I haven't finished the programming on that yet, I was in the middle of making show one while loading the next. I'll try and get onto that soon. --Nad 19:21, 8 May 2006 (NZST)
No pressure Jewel 15:51, 9 May 2006 (NZST)
You are totally awesome man, I had about 2sec to check out the wiki last night and couldnt wait to get on it, I couldnt create a log in though cause there were no random floating letters to put in, right now I cant seem to connect to it at all :( Would Sam have turned the server off as hes gone away on his honeymoon? Jewel 13:10, 13 May 2006 (NZST)

Hi, I've got two probs cropping up after the move to wikiexpert server, one is the recentchanges have this warning at the top:

Yeah that's not going to work currently because https connections aren't working in PERL on wikiexpert server --Nad 18:20, 6 May 2006 (MST)
OK, which sync-list or merge-list do I remove MA-wiki from to stop my recent-changes display from being mangled?--Milan 18:47, 6 May 2006 (MST)
  • and I've got the images uploading problem like I had with the CGS wiki, nothing urgent here, just thought I'd let you know--Milan 17:55, 6 May 2006 (MST)
I had to set the perms on the images dir yesterday to fix that, when did you try this last? --Nad 18:20, 6 May 2006 (MST)
Yeah, images-upload works fine now, thanks
  • Also, have you noticed that the timestamps on our signatures are wrong? My time-offset for the server is fine and rc looks fine, it's just the signatures--Milan 18:47, 6 May 2006 (MST)

Yo, that was me then locking up http://wikiexpert.com :(. I didnt have a restriction on the number of years on my annuity calculator and accidentally processed 100,000 years * 52 weeks. I had to log onto the server and quickly restart apache to flush the http processes. Ive now put a restriction of 100 years on it. --Sven 21:56, 5 May 2006 (MST)

I dont mind uploading and catorgorising images it doesnt take me long I only have about 20 to go,

Jewel 19:40, 4 May 2006 (NZST)

Hows the stomach!!:-( Thanks for ya help Its like having my own personal online trainer. -- Jewel 21:24, 3 May 2006 (NZST)

Feeling a lot better thanks :-) still pretty week though - don't know how Travis went straight off to work again the day after! I didn't make it to that job in the end I just went to sleep as soon as I got home. --Nad 21:27, 3 May 2006 (NZST)
Thanks realised i hadnt saved them and shan was making me do plan stuff at same time I fixed them now, happy to hear u feelin better :-)
--Jewel 22:50, 3 May 2006 (NZST)

Yo, I have reinstalled Apache with mod-rewrite enabled, can you check its ok please. For some reason the switch had to be explictly added even though it is supposed to be default

cd /tmp
wget http://apache.mirror99.com/httpd/httpd-2.2.0.tar.gz
tar -zxvf httpd-2.2.0.tar.gz
cd httpd-2.2.0
./configure --enable-rewrite --enable-ssl
make
make install
Looks like it is still poked :( --Sven 21:33, 30 Apr 2006 (NZST)
I set up the mod-rewrite rules in httpd.conf and it's working fine :-) --Nad 21:36, 3 May 2006 (NZST)
D'ya reckon its time to dump the Hat n try some debianisation on its ass?
It must be a configuration issue, something small that is incorrect. Is your mod-rewrite rules utilizing the new absolute/relative parts of the apache paths
/usr/local/apache2/htdocs # all html/php code
/usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin # all cgi's
--Sven 07:34, 1 May 2006 (NZST)
I haven't done any rewrite rules yet - I didn't want to add any new more complexity to the system until its working. The main problem is this issue that's preventing the retreival of non executing files. I thought it best to have that fixed before adding rewrite-rules etc --Nad 09:31, 1 May 2006 (NZST)

Thanks for all your work!! I uploaded the zip program it only took about half n hour:( Will let ya know when i have a password still punching in the accounts, hav changed the link headings on the front page of KKHE but not sure how to space them properly looks ok as is though.I dont have one of those verticle line things (cant remember what they are called)to use before headings on my keyboard??? Jewel 19:14, 29 Apr 2006 (NZST)

Nad,

this Wikipedia bot is interesting, they have a manual override facility for anyone to clear pages, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sandbot. This seems to be useful when people maliceously embed lots of large articles and make images that have increadible huge rescaled size. --Sven 10:55, 27 Apr 2006 (NZST)
