Brother network scanner

From Organic Design wiki

During the install of the drivers from the official site, it asks for the IP address of the scanner which you will likely not be able to answer, just hit enter a few times and the program will exit without installing it. Then run brsaneconfig4 -q to check what scanners are available and their IP addresses, and you'll get something like this:

DCP-1610NW [192.168.1.3] Brother_DCP-1610NW_series

I don't know why it can't do this automatically as part of the setup, but you can configure it manually as follows:

brsaneconfig4 -a name=MyScanner model=DCP-1617NW ip=192.168.1.3

The scanner should now show up normally in programs like SimpleScan or GIMP.
