Summary and current status
I am a German-born, 31 year old permanent resident of New Zealand who has spent the last 10 years working and studying here. After completing a project in Kaiwaka in the print and publishing industry over the last few months I have moved to Auckland to resume part-time studies toward a career in human resource management and organisational development. During this time I am pursuing freelance translation work from English to German and vice versa since I speak both languages at the level of native speaker. I am also looking for up to 25 hours of work per week in website administration, office administration or retail.
Qualifications summary
While I was self-employed during the last two years I developed a documentation system and customer relationship management system for a leading solar water heating company in collaboration with a software developer, training their staff and documenting usage procedures, culminating in the successful hand over of the systems management to the client's administrator.
Previously I filled a management position with an alternative energy startup company, where I was in charge of drawing together a talented IT team to develop IT systems and developing marketing materials.
My entry into the IT field was through years of PC software and hardware maintenance as well as user training, resulting in PC technician and front desk administration positions within computer service companies.
Capabilities include
- Mediawiki content management and administration
- SugarCRM administration and user training
- Intermediate level office software
- Front desk administration and customer service
- Business administration and record-keeping
- Procedures documentation
- Team management and business communication
Experience highlights
- Business Administration
Through working in front-line administration roles, administrating my own business and applying personal organisation and productivity methods I have developed a solid grasp on filing, organisation and accounting practises. I have often stepped into administrative roles and turned disorganised workplaces into tidy, comfortable and productive work environments.
- IT Project Management
Developing a functional documentation and customer relationship management system for my client involved developing detailed specifications and communicating the requirements of the client to technical development staff, then managing the development process and ensuring staff were well-trained to take advantage of the system. This allowed me to develop my organisational, project management and multi-tasking skills as well as my communication skills, explaining to management what the technical possibilities and limitations of the software systems were and explaining to developers what the needs of the client were throughout the development process.
- Human Resources and Communications
Working in a management role in a high-tech startup company has allowed me to develop my oral and written communications skills, ensuring management and technical staff were "on the same page". I anticipated and proactively solved communications problems before they turned into conflict. In this environment I have applied my mediation and facilitation skills and my ability to detect values conflicts and initiate communication processes to bring about team harmonisation.
