In a Wiki Organisation, a record is an article which contains usage of one of the templates categorised in Category:Records. Each record template has a corresponding form, for example Template:Member and Form:Member. The form defines field names and types to be contained in records of that type, and the articles which transclude the template define specific values for the fields and are considered to be an instance of that record type.

Using the RecordAdmin extension the records can be queried by type and field values and can be edited and searched using their forms. Note that Semantic MediaWiki/SemanticForms also use templates in the same way to define their data structure.
