Talk:One Laptop per Child

From Organic Design wiki

This is an awesome project, thanks for highlighting it here, Rob. The hardware is pretty cool, it's a completely different approach to laptops, and I knew that but I had no idea how much work they'd done on the interface to make it kid-friendly Are you working to make Peerix run off these when they come out? This project seems to be pretty closely aligned, in any case.--Milan 12:03, 23 Nov 2006 (NZDT)

I was mainly interested in what kind of interface they would use for their operating system. I have downloaded and played with their OS in Qemu. It has got a long way to go but there are some nice user interface features. It's based on fedora (redhat) but takes an age to boot and still relies on X11 I think, however it does not look like any X window system you've seen before. I'm sure it would be quite easy to make peerix run on this machine, as linux abstracts all the hardware stuff. --Rob 16:57, 23 Nov 2006 (NZDT)
