Talk:Peerix logo research

From Organic Design wiki

two cents from a march of the penguins fan (seen it at least 6 times with my kids)...the images i uploaded are meant to just highlight the specific shape and contrast of the face of a baby emperor penguin...imagine a b/w circle logo: just the face as a circle, and then the b/w contrast of the beak, eyes, and black feathers on the outside. it has a kinda silhoette, hatching, potential/growing up quality to it. so yeah, like easter...;) whaddayall think? --Phalseid 15:41, 16 Apr 2006 (NZST)

Good to have some pictures of the real thing - speaking of which - Milan and I came across a real penguin the other day, it bit Milan when he tried to pat it, but didn't seem very worried by our presence really :-) --Nad 15:46, 16 Apr 2006 (NZST)
maybe a static logo is too, well, too 20th century. what about a dynamic logo that takes its color, size, 3d orientation, etc from the local data to iterate/represent the peer instance that is running? think of a logo like our little flash "recent changes". then you could have a site with all the "recent changes" (logos) and listen/visualize the representative noise/life/(smell?).....Phalseid 16:02, 16 Apr 2006 (NZST)
Aran, can you whip up a scratch-n-sniff action script for the new logo?
These changes-thoughts really belong in talk:changes.as, but yeah this swf/3D/changes thing is the foundation of the peer interface, and is what I'm mainly working on at the moment. --Nad 16:26, 16 Apr 2006 (NZST)
I remember thinking about the idea of the HAL "eye" from 2001. It has a function but is the symbol of the machine also. I guess it would ideal to get to a stage where the system is known for it's beautiful, functional, tools rather than some logotype (which seems a bit superfisual). Maybe time is required for some more symbols to emerge from the research. --Rob 16:48, 17 Apr 2006 (NZST)

I think he's way too complicated. Lets try and see what we can take away. It suffers from being based on a geometrically modeled shape, not like a real drawing. --Rob 11:59, 16 Apr 2006 (NZST)

The whole thing about creative stuff like names, logo's, icons and avatars is that there can be many options to choose from. It's only with the functional aspects that logic can be used to objectively judge various options to be better or worse than each other --Nad 13:07, 16 Apr 2006 (NZST)

I don't think those can really be thought of as a series of options - more like an evolution from 1-6 and then the with-toolbox is a variation using whatever then current penguen is... --Nad 12:01, 16 Apr 2006 (NZST)

Concepts such as the "current penguin" make me think you are trying to be too generic. It's just a mater of aesthetics in my opinion. --Rob 13:54, 16 Apr 2006 (NZST).
