reasons to use freshbooks

As far as we can tell, FreshBooks is the only billing system out there with the following 3 features:

  • External API for electronic comunication and transfer of data (clients, invoices, payments, etc.)
  • Internal Use of common gateways for customer payment options (Verisign, paypal, etc.)
    • Can process checks as well, and autodraft/recurrent billing(schedule) depending on your bank.
  • Built in portal for clients to access their billing history and invoices.
reasons to not use freshbooks
  • limited customizeability of invoice...sure, you can change logo, and 4 color areas, but that is it. very dissastisfied with their solution...
  • the API is highly limited. For now we're stuck with it because its the only thing out there, Specifically we need to be able to INSERT AND RETRIEVE clients, reports, invoices, payments, etc. Not just insert/retrieve invoices and insert clients.
  • cannot attach files to an invoice

in summary, the benefits may outweigh the drawbacks, but i will be thrilled when we get a solution working here. --Phalseid 00:19, 2 Oct 2006 (NZST)

Aran and I use a spreadsheet that Aran has set up in Open Office. It combines accounts, time tracking and stock, although we don't really put that much stock into it. It doesn't have much of an interface but will be easy to import into the Peer once that is ready.--Milan 02:06, 2 Oct 2006 (NZST)
