Low noise RF switching is needed to allow multiple audio and video inputs switched by software. I have a TV with one video input. I already have a DVD player, so the use of a media center in this situation will not be very friendly because of the need to switch inputs manually.
An RF switch with multiple audio and video inputs and a single audio/video output would allow software to control which outputs are sent to the TV. In this way the remote control can be used to select from a number of existing video sources or the computer or TV. The switch would also need a default switched state. In the case where the pc is asleep the hardware could still select a default switch path to allow the use of the DVD player when the software was not able to respond.
Circuit
Simple transistor based amplifier drives the relay based on one of the Micro's digital pins.
