Dan - Refering to our conversation the other day about "where this all may be going" in the context of creating the company Energy Alternatives / this extraordinary unfolding of possibilities / Meridian Alliance / attraction and collaboration of like minded people / projects / Organic Design's Project /overall direction / the journey / a new possibility for humanity /  etcetera.

Other context /influences to this conversation and my thoughts at moment are: Landmark's "living in possibility" Wayne Dyer's " living in(the power of)"Intention" and specifically ENERGY. (Negative & Positive).

OK - That's the background so here's my question everyone. I would really value your collaboration on this as I feel this is an important distinction for me / us to get clear on. (or at least engage)

I have just this morning realized that there is a very strong connection and reason why Energy Alternatives has been created that I am not yet clear about. It somehow relates to a REALLY BIG PICTURE of which seems to be coming gradually into focus but is far from clear at moment.

What is/may be the REAL REASON we are focussed on and creating sustainable energy? Where might this be going? It's so much more than just "transforming" NZ as stated in our EA "Vission Statement"!!! What may be a "higher calling" connection? Are we subconciously creatin something here that may be of VERY BIG SIGNIFICANCE THAT WE ARE NOT CONCIOUSLY AWARE OF??

Milan /Dan - I've had conversations with you about this as of late. Remember my declaration about how much fun this journey was going to be? Here we go!

Aran / Milan- Can we create a "forum type" discussion "area" on "our/ Meridian Alliance" Wiki / program to run with this a bit?

Have a great day all! Looking forward to your inputs!!! Dana

Footnote to all this:  I'm not getting hung up with any of this at all, just inspired by being with this "work group" (or whatever this is) of like minds! I'm enjoying exploring the possible "higher level" possibilities that exist...........--[[User:Dana|Dana]] 09:01, 31 Mar 2006 (NZST)

Revision as of 03:35, 2 April 2006

Hi Dana, All going pretty well, only got to schedule peer for distibuted backup to go (have to do it different for merdian due to security). See the new on the meridian wiki here :-)

Also, you should go directly to the Moeridan Wiki at http://meridian.organicdesign.co.nz instead of here now. We can still see each other wiki's in the changes so you won't be isolated. The changes with green in them indicate they're from another wiki.

Talk:The Big Picture

We may need another f2f meeting to decide exactly how we're going to align, because my feelings have not been very positive, I was hoping for far more activity and solidity after this amount of time. I was expecting to see a clear idea of exactly what meridian is about clearly documented and for you to be comfortable with wiki and running your own server by now. I suppose things always take longer than expected, but currently I'm not sure whether I want to be directly involved or just an advisor via Milan.

Things have been held up largely due to my productivity issues (being on dial-up, etc.). That has been addressed and we will begin to see some good progress with Meridian stuff. Let's just start putting in some content, set up the server, etc. Dana has just written an enthusiastic endorsement of our shared values, I think that warrants a positive response. There is nothing to stress about, really. Just my 2c.

Aran, the 'box' will be in Auckland at lunchtime today. If you are free this afternoon maybe we can meet you, myself & Dana (I can pick you up form the ferry), or we can schedule a date to do it with Milan in Whiti. --Dan 10:17, 31 Mar 2006 (NZST)
Today would be fine, let me know when would be a good time to meet at the ferry building, just give me a couple of hours advance notice in case I'm out for a walk or something. Seeyou, Nad
Aran, come over anytime after 3pm, if you can text me 021710970 to let me know which ferry you're on I'll pick you up at the usual place. --Dan 12:45, 31 Mar 2006 (NZST)
I don't have a mob, but I'll head over and be at the ak ferry building at 3:30pm --Nad 13:05, 31 Mar 2006 (NZST)
My general idea regarding wiki and open-ness/your-info was to just put the
general non-sensitive info in there on ours while you get up to speed -
being directly within our environment with us will be a good way for our
projects to get aligned and for you move into the wiki-way of organising
things.

But after that phase I think you'd definately be best with your own set up -
this would be a clone which stays up-to-date and can have any areas merged
with the main one. There are three other such clones at the moment.

There are many reasons to do this, such as being in control of all your own
data and security, eg. you could have your wiki completely private just for
administrators and have it keep the public info syncronised onto your normal
website over FTP.

Re: debian setup

It would definately be best to have a dedicated system for it, I don't think
its worth the effort in setting one up if its not going to be a dedicated
wiki box, dual-booting would be more of a headache than just sticking with the XP.
A good idea though getting a dedicated one happening - we can still
link the changes the way we did on the Pollie.

Hi

Hi Dan's first Wiki entry.

Milan, will be in Whiti next week Thurs and Fri. Ignore my last email re: Debian - I see you'll use XP... P.S. thanks for setting me up. You can maybe remove user 'Danh' from the system - that was me a couple of days ago.

Hi all- Dana here. Hopefully I'm in the right spot now for discussion. Feel strongly in favor as well for a dedicated system for the Alliance. There is an immediate need for an interactive client and contributor system for the 309 project. This will be the "launch pad" for the Alliance and create the pathways and processes to sustainable development of the future.

Very important to be mindfull what we put out to the world as we are creating...... We've made a few mistakes that have taken too much of our personal time to correct and have learned a lesson or two about it. the sooner we get a "tiered" access system in place the better so we can collaborate and finesse our words before release.......

My solution would be to make your wiki private access only and SSL if you like, then use the wiki environment to publish finalised docs to your website(s). --Nad 11:06, 20 Mar 2006 (NZST)

A photo gallery is important. I see this also becoming a sales tool for clients at some point, once people see that there is something special here.....

I like the idea of the Wiki being our 'website'. What attracts me is the idea of it as a living representation of our business where anyone with an interest in what we are doing can become involved - if it is a client, they can add to their project and see how it is going. If it is a potential contributor, they can join in on some of the discussions we might have. I don't like the idea of a website as simply a corporate brochure. What I do like is the idea of breaking down some company wallls, making collaboration easier, increasing transparency of what we do and who we are, and giving people a platform where they feel confident to contribute, whoever they are. That's why I say down with the website and up with the Wiki! --Dan 10:34, 22 Mar 2006 (NZST)

I'm good with that. We'll need to "link" with the traditional website search engines etc so as not to be hidden away...--Dana 09:17, 24 Mar 2006 (NZST)

Aye to that, Dan! It wouldn't be very hard to give people access to your wiki and also use the "publish to conventional website" aspect. The website would be the public interface for the Alliance and whoever liked what was there and wanted to get involved via the Internet could get a user set up on the "Wiki portal" of the website. Or something like that.

Dana, I have moved your calendar entry for 31 March from the Organic Design calendar to the Meridian calendar, as it refers to a Meridian event. Unless you specifically wanted it to be on the main site calendar?
