A peer is any software which implements a [[Nodal Space]] and applies [[Nodal Reduction]] to it, thus becoming part of the global [[Nodal Network]].

Since peers are instances of running software, they are tied to a particular [[w:runtime|runtime]] environment and thus are associated with the various resources like storage and bandwidth which are accessible locally from that environment.
