Leverage and extend the scalable (in terms of load balancing) MediaWiki project with any extension customizations required. This allows us (and end users) to easily tap in to the Wikipedia resource, and is the interface that most people are familiar with. The bid should emphasize utlizing an active highly successful open source project, platform independence, and an installation setup (wikia farm approach) which allows new versions and extensions to be patched in seemlessly.
