From Organic Design wiki

Hi Aaron and Milan, I have been working to bring the cinema function to a conclusion, where my involvement is not daily, but infrequent. And also been using email as the main form of communication for this Growing Our Own initiaitive, which is taking off at a pace that has me jogging. I have been using gmail and finding its "search - rather than file" approach is working quite well for me and I am able to manage a great deal of communications quite efficiently. I am not sure if or when I will be back here to this site, and how it can be best utilised, but I need to explore a little and see what is going to work. And wanted to touch base with you. I see the additional formatting button interface has been added - this is a big plus for newbies, and makes me more hopeful that this is a tool that over time many people can make use of to great benefit. Love, James

There's two changes to GOO on the 07/08:

Have you tried to add more things after that? let me know if it's still not working and what you're trying to add and what time it is when you do it and I'll check it out.

This was great and I have copied it into the GOO introduction. Please can you help me? I have made edits to the GOO Events, but they are not appearing in my browser. There are only two older entries that remain, and the two newest ones dont show up???? jms

Hi James - I thought you might be interested in this - Wikipedia have a welcome message which explains some stuff about using the Wiki when you sign up. Here's what it said:

Welcome!

Hello, Jms, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

Thanks for all your support - i wont be able to do much with this for a while, as the actions around this are all consuming this weekend in the most amazing and gracious and moving ahead fast way. Then I have to move house on Monday. But I'll be back! jms

I have added a group called goo which currently only you are part of. You need to be a member of the goo group to access the page with the email list on it. I've done this because robots will read the addresses and then they'll start getting a lot of spam. Let me know if you need other users to be members of postmasters or goo, or if any problems have cropped up.

Hi James,

  • The mailer is ready for use - maybe test it with your proposed articles first by sending to yourself.
  • Please don't send to large lists (50+) yet though as it needs to be implemented in peer.pl not XmlWiki to work best.
  • I've made an example here

I've changed the security on the mailer so that only users in the postmasters group can use mail services. You have been added to the group, but if anyone else needs to send to lists, let me know and I can add them to the group. Otherwise anyone can sign up and use it for spamming.

You may find article embedding useful: Talk:Growing Our Own

Hi James, thanks for the email, I'll be talking to you via wiki regarding wiki-related stuff so here goes...

I've passed on your questions regarding mailing lists to aran, he should be setting up an example soon, also you should have a user page to set up your own workspace and manage docs etc. just off the main page soon. You can set permissions to make it private or keep it public, or have a private section on it like I am doing...

peace!
