Install and Configure OpenAtrium Organic Design procedure |
OpenAtrium is an "intranet in a box that has group spaces to allow different teams to have their own conversations. It comes with six features - a blog, a wiki, a calendar, a to do list, a shoutbox, and a dashboard to manage it all."
OpenAtrium is actually an installation profile of Drupal and it install a fully functional Drupal 6, which can be treated as a normal Drupal, especially regarding permissions.
Set Up
Download the relevant openAtrium distro. A server set up as an OD server will have all of openAtrium's requirements available out of the box.
Follow the excellent and detailed quickstart.
The quickstart assumes the installer is a Linux sysadmin. You need to set up a MySql database on a LAMP server, and perform the Drupal file system steps and Apache mod rewrites.
Don't bother with fancy rewrites for clean URLs, and don't enable clean URLs in the setup.
The Case Tracker in Atrium does the same thing as the Timetracker in Storm, the latter is deemed to be better and should be installed. Case Tracker is pretty simplistic but does have the advantage of being integrated with Calendar.
Install and Configure Modules
Enable modules such as Blog and Forum, also Date Repeat API, Devel and Views UI.
Install the CKEditor Module if you want a GUI. You need to do this as User #1 then go to admin/settings/ckeditor/edit/Advanced, edit the Basic sections and allow Administrators to use CKEditor.
Two modules that we have found useful to complete the project management specification are Sub Groups and Time Tracker modules.
