We have seven acres of [[:Category:Canela|land near Canela]] which we'll be moving on to in the next year or so, but we'll probably start by moving into a flat in Canela in the next few months so we can begin planting before we've got the place into a livable condition. In the mean time we're accumulating various links and resources about independent off-grid sustainable living in this category which will help us to formulate ideas for what to build and the best and most sustainable ways to go about it.

The longer-term plan is to have a thriving [[w:Agroforestry|agroforest]] and a number of small dwellings surrounding a common area so that we can have a small community of like-minded people living there and working together on various related projects. As usual with the OD approach we'd like to run this community in a very systematic way that exhibits a corresponding organic template that can be used to establish other instances of the same kind of community on other land.

Petrycoski land cover image.jpg
At the end of 2011 on the 11th of November we moved to Brazil and bought some land to set up a more independent and meditative lifestyle. We started in a flat in Curitiba, then about a year later moved to Canela which is the closest town to the land.

2. Moving on to our land          Our rural net connection

Guide to retreat on our land

Sometimes we leave the land for long periods of time and we'd like to make it available for people to do meditation retreat there while we're away. It's really difficult to find places that are comfortable to live but have practically no distractions. This article is intended to become a guide for living at our place since it's off-grid and has various aspects that will be unfamiliar to those used to normal residential living. See also our daily schedule which may be useful for creating your own schedule for retreat at the land. [more...]

Nature's cycles

When living on the land it's very important to be in tune with the cycles of nature and so we've created an article for each month of the year in which to document useful information such as what plants are in season, what things we should be doing and what to expect from the weather and river etc. These articles are grouped together in the Months category.
