The purpose of this glossary is to create a basic [[data dictionary]] of common terms we use and agree to/understand the definition of so we can ascribe meaning to what is being said and thought. The purpose of having an Organic Design glossary is that while we generally use Wikipedia as a reference, there are certain terms which we use and think of differently or which aren't clearly described on Wikipedia. For instance over the years we have developed our own perspective on certain criteria, such as Think global, act local. There are projects like Wiki Organisation that have an OD-specific meaning, or notions like the Open Source Business.

There are many ways to help out with the glossary development process. People who like administrating can look around for incomplete items and move them to the Category:Glossary stubs. Some people are good at asking questions, they can help the writers by using the talk pages of glossary items to seek clarification of poorly explained ideas or incomplete sections. Those with an editing bent might enjoy tidying up typos or improving grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure. And of course writers familiar with the work of Organic Design and the Project are invited to lay down some sentences and paragraphs.
